Jubilee Year of Mercy Begins with Opening Mass (12/13)

To celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy, our amazing Bishop Quinn, Monsignor Colletti, Father Jonathan, and seminarians served mass and opened the Holy Door on Sunday, December 13th at 10:30am.

Jesus said, “I am the door” (John 10:7), bringing to fruition the words of the Psalmist, who said, “This is the door of the Lord where the just may enter” (see Psalm 118:20).

The ritual opening of the Holy Door of Mercy in the Basilica of St. Peter, December 8, 2015, marks the official start of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Pope Francis has encouraged every diocese to designated Holy Doors in local churches and at local shrines so every member of the Faithful can receive the graces and mercy of the Jubilee year in unity with the Universal Church. Bishop Quinn also opened the Holy Door of Mercy (at the main entrance of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart) for our Winona community.

Praise be to God!
