Virtus Session This Saturday

We will be offering a Virtus session this Saturday, September 14th at 9:00 am at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Holy Family Hall. If you plan to help with the Fall Festivals, Block Party, or any other upcoming event in our parishes, you will need to attend a Virtus session.
We ask that everyone who plans to attend register online here prior to the class. If you encounter registration problems, or are unable to register, please contact the parish office and we will be happy to help you.

The Virtus program is designed to help volunteers and employees work together to create safe environments for children and vulnerable adults. While attending a Virtus session is part of the safe environment program requirement for volunteers and employees at Catholic parishes and schools, everyone is welcome to attend.
Thank you for helping us keep our parishes, schools, and communities safe!

September 7th: Day of Fasting and Prayer for Peace in Syria

As you have heard, Pope Francis declared Saturday, September 7, 2013, a Day of Fasting and Prayer for Peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world. In solidarity with our Holy Father, Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, President of the Conference of Bishops, and Bishop Richard E. Pates, Chairman of the Committee on International Justice and Peace, both issued a statement which can be found both below and on the USCCB Web Site.

As part of our Day of Fasting and Prayer in the Diocese of Winona, we invite parishioners to remain after the Saturday Vigil Mass to prayer the rosary for peace. The prayer for peace below will also be prayed every hour in the Adoration Chapel at Cathedral until Midnight on Saturday evening. We encourage you to return to pray for peace in Syria and the Middle East, as a sign our solidarity with Pope Frances who will be in prayer in St. Peter’s Square from 5pm till midnight this September 7.

November Retreat-Awakenings: Honoring the Mystic Within

Awakening: Honoring the Mystic Within-Presented by Fr. Joe Nassal, CPPS
Most of us think mysticism is something beyond us, something reserved for those who are so attuned to God's voice that even the clamor of a world often teetering on the brink of chaos can shake their "inward calm". But as many of the great teachers of the spiritual life remind us, we can be modern day mystics through the practice of awareness. The Divine One is present in our everyday life. This retreat explores how we can honor the mystic within by becoming aware of the love that God has kindled in our hearts.
