There are currently two upcoming VIRTUS sessions in Winona: October 11th at St. Stan's Parish Office (10 a.m.), and October 18th at St. Mary's Parish (6 p.m.).
Do you need to take VIRTUS?
Every minister or volunteer needs to attend a VIRTUS session. In order to continue in your ministry or volunteer work, you must take a VIRTUS session. Since all ministers and volunteers must attend one VIRTUS session, we are encouraging all parishioners to attend a session.
You can sign up for a session by clicking on the button on the right side of this website, or by clicking here. At this time, you only need to attend one VIRTUS session for the duration of your volunteering/ministering.
What is VIRTUS?
VIRTUS is a program required by the Diocese of Winona that teaches and enables those who work and volunteer or minister in the church to learn about ways to protect children and vulnerable adults. It teaches signals and behavior to watch for, as well as reporting procedures.
This is a one-time session that lasts approximately 2 hrs 15 min. The session must be taken in person (there is no on-line session). You can sign up for a session by clicking on the button on the right side of this website, or by clicking here.
Every minister or volunteer needs to have a background check on file at the parish office. This is part of the program required by the Diocese, as well as the State of MN in some cases. Haven't signed a consent form in the past year? Stop by the Parish office and fill one out, or click here to print off the PDF form and return it to the office. At this time background checks are good for 3 years.
