August 6th--The Feast of the Transfiguration

Today is a powerful Feast Day in the Church where we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus. "Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves.  And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no fuller on earth could bleach them." This Feast day celebrates that Jesus truly is God but also that we are strengthened as His disciples to both trust in Him who is our God and also that we are ourselves transformed into becoming united to Jesus in our daily lives.  May we all hear the words of the Father to Jesus that are spoken also to us with love, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him."    Below is a video of the place of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor.  I spent two nights here while on pilgrimage to Israel in 2009 and it is a very peace filled place.
