Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!  This feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary originates to July 16th, 1251 when Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock and gave to him the brown scapular to wear.  The scapular is actually what the Carmelites (and other) religious orders wear as a part of their habit.  However, the "brown scapular" has been given to all as an opportunity to wear as a sacramental that shows and spreads our devotion to Mary and is said to grant us perseverance in our final hour.  Click this link to read more on Our Lady of Mount Carmel and other links about the wearing of a scapular.
